Method: The original sculpture is hand sculpted by the artist (either first modelled in clay and refined in plaster, or directly carved in plaster) to a flawless finish. This master is used to produce a mould. Final sculptures (Variations and Fragments) are hand cast by the artist in a proprietary blends of cement, pigments and a variety of other materials. Textures and colours are layered in an intentional, painterly manner. Finishing includes aggressive techniques such as additional carving, re-sculpting, intentional erosion and repair, as well as surface treatments such as polishing, burnishing, staining and patinas, resulting in a number of unique variations.
